Marble Cake is a delicious cake recipe made with blending light and dark batter lightly, giving the cake a marble pattern. The vanilla batter creates a perfect match with the taste of cocoa batter. Marble Cake recipe is easy to make, yet a good option to serve to your friends and family during special occasions, or even tea parties.

Ingredients

Marble Cake recipe requires you to have basic ingredients to prepare a delicious vanilla cake. Eggs, sugar, flour, milk, oil, vanilla extract, and baking powder are for preparing the classical vanilla cake batter, and cocoa powder to prepare dark batter.

3 Large Eggs: Eggs are the backbone of this cake. They provide structure and moisture, helping the cake rise and giving it a light, airy texture.

Granulated Sugar: Sugar helps creating a tender crumb while also sweetening the cake.

Flour: Flour forms the base of the cake, providing structure. You can use all-purpose flour for a lighter texture, or whole wheat flour for a denser, more nutritious cake.

Milk: Milk adds moisture and richness to the cake. It also helps to activate the baking powder, ensuring a good rise.

Vegetable Oil: Olive oil is the fat that keeps the cake moist and tender, keeping the ingredients together. We preferred olive oil, but you can use any vegetable oil you want.

Baking Powder: Baking powder is the leavening agent that helps the cake rise, giving it a soft and fluffy texture.

Vanilla Extract: Vanilla extract enhances the flavor of the cake, adding a warm, sweet note that pairs perfectly with the cocoa.

Cocoa Powder: Cocoa powder gives the cake its chocolate flavor. It also adds a slightly bitter taste that balances the sweetness of the sugar.

How to Make Marble Cake?

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F). This ensures that the cake will bake evenly. While the oven is heating, grease your cake pan with olive oil or butter to prevent the cake from sticking.

Prepare the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs and granulated sugar. Whisk them together using a mixer until the mixture turns light. This step is crucial for incorporating air, which helps the cake rise. Next, add the olive oil and milk, and continue whisking until everything is well combined.

Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and vanilla extract to the wet mixture. Keep whisking until you achieve a smooth and lump-free batter. This step ensures that the cake has a consistent texture.

Divide and Flavor the Batter: Pour half of the prepared batter into your greased cake pan. To the remaining batter in the bowl, add the cocoa powder. Gently fold the cocoa powder into the batter until fully incorporated, giving you a chocolate layer.

Layer the Batter and Bake: Pour the cocoa-infused batter into the plain batter in the cake pan. This will create a zebra effect when the cake is sliced. Place the cake pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 40 minutes. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cake: Once the cake is baked, carefully remove it from the pan and transfer it to a large plate. Allow the cake to cool completely before serving. This cooling process helps the flavors develop and makes the cake easier to slice.

Serve: Your cake is now ready to be enjoyed. Serve it with a hot cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of milk for a delightful treat.
