Cinnamon Walnut Cookies is one of the easisest and healthies cookies you can easily bake at home with simple ingredients. With the low amount of sugar, and being able to use whole wheat flour, these cookies can be very healthy, yet delicious.
Ingredients
For the Cookies:
Unsalted Butter: Adds richness and moisture to the dough, helping create a tender texture. Using unsalted butter gives you control over the salt content in the recipe.
Granulated sugar: Sweetens the cookies and helps with browning during baking, creating a slightly crisp texture.
Vegetable Oil: Provides additional moisture and helps keep the cookies soft. It also contributes to a rich flavor without overpowering the other ingredients.
All-purpose Flour: The main structural ingredient that gives the cookies their form and body. You can also use whole wheat flour instead.
Egg: Binds the ingredients together, adding moisture and richness. It also helps with leavening, making the cookies rise slightly.
Baking powder: A leavening agent that helps the cookies rise and become light and airy during baking.
Vanilla Extract: Adds a pleasant, sweet aroma and flavor that enhances the overall taste of the cookies.
Walnuts: Adds crunch and a nutty flavor to the cookies, giving them texture and depth.
Cinnamon Powder: Adds warmth and a hint of spice, complementing the sweetness and nuts in the cookies.
How to Make Cinnamon Walnut Cookies?
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F): Preheating your oven to 180°C (356°F) ensures the oven is at the right temperature when you’re ready to bake, allowing the cookies to cook evenly.
Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a bowl, use a hand mixer to beat together the sugar, egg, and butter until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. This step helps incorporate air into the dough, ensuring the cookies are light and fluffy while also blending the ingredients well.
Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Stir these together to ensure they’re evenly distributed before adding them to the wet ingredients. The baking powder will help the cookies rise, and the cinnamon gives a warm, spicy flavor.
Combine Dry and Wet ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the bowl with the creamy sugar-butter-egg mixture. Mix them together until fully combined and you have a uniform dough. This step ensures that the cookies have a smooth texture without lumps.
Add Walnuts: Once the dough is mixed, fold in the chopped walnuts. This distributes the nuts evenly throughout the dough, adding a crunchy texture and nutty flavor to each cookie.
Shape the Dough: Take portions of the dough and roll them into balls. You can make them any size you prefer, but ensure they are uniform so they bake evenly. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet, leaving space between each one so they don’t stick together when they expand.
Bake: Put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies start to turn a light golden brown. Be careful not to overbake, as you want them to stay soft.
Let the Cookies Rest: After removing the cookies from the oven, allow them to rest on the tray for about 5 minutes. This lets them firm up slightly and cool before you handle them.
Prepare the Topping and Coat the Cookies: While the cookies are resting, mix the powdered sugar and cinnamon powder in a small bowl. Once the cookies have rested, lightly dust or roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to give them a sweet, flavorful coating.
