Chocolate Cupcakes are easy, moist and super delicious treats, which are perfect for serving during special occasions. Whether you are baking for a party, a cozy gathering, or just to satisfy your chocolate cravings, this recipe will not dissapoint you!

Ingredients

Eggs: While baking, egg acts as a binding agent and adds extra moisture into the recipes. This Chocolate Cupcakes recipe requires 3 large eggs.

Granulated Sugar: Sugar sweetens the cupcakes and adds flavor. 1 cup of granulated sugar whisked with eggs will create a light texture.

All-purpose Flour: Flour provides structure and helps the cupcakes rice. 2 cups of flour is used in this recipe, but you can adjust the amount by adding more for too moist batter.

Milk: Milk adds moisture to the batter. 1 cup of milk is used for this recipe. If you added more flour than needed, you can increase the amount of milk you add into.

Olive Oil: Keeps the cupcakes soft and moist. Olive oil adds a subtle depth of flavor. We used 1/2 cup of olive oil for this recipe.

Baking Powder: 2 teaspoons baking powder will act as a leavening agent which helps the cupcakes rise more.

Vanilla Extract: Adds an aromatic, sweet flavor and smell.

Cocoa Powder: Gives the cupcakes their rich chocolatey taste. 2 tablespoons cocoa powder will be enough, but if you want to have more bitter taste, you can add more cocoa powder.

How to Make Chocolate Cupcakes?

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 170°C (338°F) and prepare your cupcake tray with liners or grease it lightly.

Make the Batter: In a large bowl, combine the eggs and sugar. Whisk with a mixer until the mixture becomes pale and fluffy. This step ensures the cupcakes are light and airy. Add the olive oil and milk, then continue whisking until fully incorporated. Sift the flour, baking powder, vanilla extract, and cocoa powder into the wet ingredients. Use a whisk or spatula to gently fold everything together until smooth and lump-free. Avoid overmixing to maintain the fluffiness of the batter.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full to allow space for rising. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.

Check for Doneness: Use a toothpick to test the center of a cupcake. If it comes out clean, the cupcakes are ready.

Cool the Cupcakes: Remove them from the oven and transfer them to a large plate or cooling rack. Allow them to cool completely before decorating.

Decorate: Prepare Chocolate Buttercream Frosting or use a topping of your choice. Spread or pipe the frosting over the cooled cupcakes. For extra flair, Berry Sauce, sprinkle crumbles, or garnish with chocolate shavings.

Key Notes

Egg and sugar whisking: Ensure you whisk the sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy to eliminate any egg smell and achieve a smooth texture.

Mixing: Gently fold in the dry ingredients to avoid overworking the batter, which could lead to dense cupcakes.

Baking check: Always test with a toothpick. If it comes out clean, the cupcakes are perfectly baked.

Cooling: Allow cupcakes to cool completely before decorating to prevent the frosting from melting.

Serving

Pair with Drinks: Pair the cupcakes with a cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of milk for a delightful treat.

Add Toppings: Experiment with different toppings like fresh fruits, sprinkles, or crushed nuts for variety.

Use Decorative Plates: Serve the cupcakes on a decorative platter for special occasions or parties.
