Homemade Meatballs Recipe - Rabbitmeal

Homemade Meatballs is a perfectly seasoned and wonderfully tender dish that brings satisfaction to any meal. This recipe is unique, traditional, and hundreds of years old, shared with the Rabbitmeal team by an old lady in the region of Anatolia.

This traditional homemade meatballs recipe will be one of your favorites with being juicy, tender inside, and crispy outside. We will share all tricks with you to make meatballs at home.

Start with getting a large bow to combine all ingredients. Transfer the ground meat into the bowl. Take inside of stale bread and dampen them with water. Squeeze out the excess water and add the bread. Finely chop parsley. Grate the medium sized onion, and add the seasonings and spices. We recommend you to use salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and cumin. You may also add red pepper flakes if you enjoy meats with hot taste more, but keep in mind that the original recipe does not include spice.

In the preparation process, use your hand to mix all the ingredients. Once they are combined well, form them into meatball shapes. We chose to give them more oval shape as the old lady who gave us the recipe.

You can either cook the meatballs in oven, or fry them in a skillet. For less calories and more healthy meatballs, send them to oven for for 15 minutes.

Serve the homemade meatballs warm, with sliced tomatoes or, Onion Salad. You may also enjoy our other recipes with these juicy, tender meatballs: Turkish White Rice, Bulgur Pilaf, Balkan Salad Recipe.

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin

  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated onion, moistened bread, and chopped parsley.
  3. Add the salt, black pepper, thyme, and cumin to the mixture.
  4. Using your hands, mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  5. Form the mixture into meatballs, about the size of a golf ball, and flatten them slightly for even cooking.
  6. Oven Method: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15 minutes or until fully cooked.
